Notice of Intent to Apply for Federal Assistance
All interested parties within Manatee County, Florida are hereby advised that the Manatee County Board of County Commissioners intends to apply for Federal assistance under Sections 5307/5339 of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Formula Grant Funding Programs. The Fiscal Year 2019 Program of Projects is consistent with the approved Transportation Improvement Program of the Sarasota/Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization. The Fiscal Year 2019 Capital Grants provide for a total combined program funding apportionment of $4,623,381. Eligible capital expenses include, but are not limited to: Purchase up to four (4) replacement 35’ buses, preventative maintenance, consulting/planning, computer hardware & software, purchase/lease of miscellaneous support equipment, purchase/installations of passenger amenities, signage, employee education/training, operating assistance funds, contingency, and project administration.
The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners is preparing to submit grant applications to the FTA comprised of the Fiscal Year 2019 Program of Projects. Unless this announcement is amended, it will serve as a publication for the final Program of Projects. Copies of the Program of Projects are available upon request.
A Public Hearing is tentatively scheduled at the Manatee County Area Transit (MCAT) office, located at 2411 Tallevast Rd, Sarasota, Florida 34243, on Friday, June 14, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., for the purpose of advising all interested parties of the projects being contemplated; and if grants are awarded, ensure that contemplated services would not represent a duplication of current or proposed services provided by existing transit or paratransit operations in the area. This hearing will be conducted if and only if a written request for the hearing is received by Friday, May 31, 2019.
